From the Superintendent’s Office:
Greetings Bon Homme School District Constituents and welcome back to a new school year!
The 2021-22 school year is fast approaching, with students returning on Monday, August 16th. The beginning of a new school term always brings excitement, as everyone prepares to meet fresh opportunities and challenges.
Reflecting on the past school year, there are many things that made it a successful educational experience. It took a great deal of commitment, dedication and cooperation from all staff members and students, as well as great parental support within the district. Thank you for each and every one of your efforts.
While planning for the upcoming school year, we are hopeful the District will not face COVID-19 challenges of the past. As we review practices and procedures, the Bon Homme School District intends to begin the year in a normal fashion. Administration will continue to monitor the fluid pandemic conditions and make protocol alterations, if necessary. Any protocol changes will be communicated to all constituents. As parents prepare for the first day of school, a few key events to keep in mind are new student registration on Tuesday, August 3 from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, 6th Grade Orientation on Thursday, August 12 from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm and Elementary Open House on Thursday, August 12 at 6:00 pm.
Through the pandemic, school districts have received federal funding to assist them in meeting current and future financial needs. In meeting requirements of the American Rescue Plan Act Elementary & Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ARP ESSER), school districts must post their “Safe Return to In-Person Instruction” and ESSER III funding plans. Additionally, these documents must be made available for public comment. Both items have been posted on the Bon Homme School District website and will be open for discussion during the Monday, August 9 board meeting. The Bon Homme School District website is http://www.bonhomme.k12.sd.us/.
As always, the Bon Homme School District greatly appreciates the support received by the community. We look forward to serving the students of the Bon Homme Community in during the 2021-22 school term.
