SCHOOL BOARD MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

March 8 Board Meeting Summary

 

The regular Board of Education meeting for BH 4-2 was held last evening in Tyndall.

 

Recognition:

State Wrestlers Dylan, Joey, Jay, and Nathan

 

Presentations- John Fathke of SCC briefed the board on funding and federal funding issues along with SCC member districts membership costs.

 

Business Conducted:

The resignation of Joanne LaCompte was accepted with gratitude for her years of service.

Policy revisions were approved; for a complete listing see agenda.  These will  be posted on the BH web site within the next couple of days.

New Policies JA – student Goals, JB- Equal Educational Opportunities, JECBA- Admission of Exchange and Foreign Students – given first reading.

                Two donations were accepted:

                                Donation from EMS /Koch Insurance for $4,603.40;

                The donation from the Hoch Foundation in the amount of $69,231. ($71,581 requested).

Discussion regarding scoreboards followed.  Administration was asked to pursue donations for scoreboards for the gym and if enough raised, football field.

Senior Class semester test exemption was approved as written in regulation, of grades of 78% or higher.

 

Executive Session called – negotiations, personnel

The following business was conducted after executive session:

                Principals Mitzel and Duffek to be offered two year contracts.

                The following positions to be eliminated for the upcoming school year:

                                Full time Title MS position;

                                Full time Title elementary position;

                                Half time SPED/half time general fund paraprofessional.

The following new positions were approved:

                                Full Time Title Teacher which will be half time elementary and half time middle school;

                                Full time SPED paraprofessional.

 

Consequently there are four open positions for the upcoming 2010/11 school year:

                                Elementary K-3 position – Bon Homme Colony with early childhood/kindergarten endorsement;

                                Full time SPED teacher – Tabor Elementary;

                                Full time Title teacher – half time in each of Tyndall Elementary/Bon Homme Middle School;

Full time SPED paraprofessional – Tabor Elementary; position will be opened after need is determined by IEP.
